ABOUT US

Japan Train LEGO® User Group (JT-LUG) is a nationwide community of LEGO® train enthusiasts based primarily in the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Kansai region. On February 3, 2017, JT-LUG was officially recognized by the LEGO® Group as a Recognized LEGO® User Group (RLUG).

Traditionally, LEGO® train builders in Japan have tended to gather on a project-by-project or event-by-event basis, rather than belonging to a single, highly structured organization. This collaborative style remains common today, and unlike many other LEGO® communities, LEGO® train fans in Japan have historically operated through informal networks.

To bring LEGO® train builders together on a national level, JT-LUG was established by expanding the successful framework of the Kansai LT Society, a LEGO® train group that has been active primarily in Kyoto since 2013. The goal was to connect builders not only in the Kansai region but throughout Japan, including the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Today, the Kansai LT Society serves as the Kansai chapter of JT-LUG. As it has a longer history than JT-LUG itself and is already well known within the Kyoto LEGO® community, the name Kansai LT Society continues to be used for activities in the Kansai region.
